TWO METHODS FOR KISSING

Were you aware that there are two basic methods for KISSING? Sure, maybe there are little variations on these two methods. But, basically, it is convenient to know these two methods to do kissing.

The card below illustrates the first method for kissing. It is basically a take-away technique. Depending on the stamps you use, it can be subtle, like mine is, or a little more flamboyant.

Two Methods for Kissing

To get this effect -- subtlety -- find a stamp that is solid, like the letters of this sentiment are. I think that using thinner images, such as letters, adds to the subtlety. If you use a more solid stamp, say a solid hippo, you will see your kissed design a bit better.

But, for now, we'll stick with my thinner letters and the result I achieved.

Ink up the solid stamp as you usually would. I like to use a darker color so the kissing shows up better. In this case, I used Dapper Denim. Once your stamp is inked well, take another stamp with lots of line work. For my card, I used a background stamp of a music score. Since my original stamp was so big, using a background stamp covered the whole thing. Anyway, press the UNINKED busy stamp directly onto and straight up from the solid stamp. Then, stamp it onto your surface. The busy stamp removes some of the ink from the solid stamp, giving you an interesting design in a lighter tone. Method one of kissing.

The second kissing method is shown in my card below. It's not nearly so subtle, and is quite fun.

Two Methods for Kissing
To achieve this effect, ink up a solid stamp -- in a lighter color ink. Here, I used the same solid sentiment, but this time I inked it up in Crushed Curry. THEN ink up your busy detailed stamp with another color. Here I used the Dapper Denim once again, along with the musical score background stamp. Pushing straight down onto your inked solid stamp, then lifting straight up, transfers the color you used on the busy stamp to the solid color. Kissing method number two.

Now, dig through your solid stamp images and find a good coordinating detailed image that you can do some kissing with!

There! Now you're an expert kisser!

Now that you've learned two basic methods for doing the kissing technique, which one do you prefer? Have you ever tried anything like this before?

Smiles.

  2. That is a really neat idea. I really like the subtle effect of the first one. But I could definitely see me using the other too.
