PAINTED HARVEST TAG

I recently was lucky enough to find a package of 13 of these assorted black and white design gift bags on clearance. As soon as I saw them, I just knew they would be perfect for a project for a Stamp-In Workshop. There were three designs, four of each, but five of the one I ended up using.

Not having had an opportunity to use my luscious Painted Harvest set yet, (yes, it's in the new big catalog coming up!) I decided to go with that set, coupled with a piece of the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper (about to retire). Since the design on the DSP was in Rich Razzleberry and Lemon Lime Twist, well, no brainer here, that was my color palette!

Initially, I planned on putting the fussy cut flour directly onto the tag,
which was cut from the DSP. Uh uh. Nope.
The flower simply blended into the background. Not good.

So I grabbed an old (retired) set of framelits and cut a Basic Black tag
on which to mount the flower.

I used the Petal Punch to make two sets of leaves for the flower.

The pretty sparkly strip of Washi Tape across the bottom of the black tag is from the (soon to retire!) Myths & Magic Specialty Washi Tape (page 36 in the Occasions Catalog).

Even though you may not have these identical gift bags, if you would like to re-create this tag for a bag of your own -- or even make it into a card! -- read on for the tutorial.

SUPPLIES:
Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper (page 188)
Basic Black cardstock
Lemon Lime Twist cardstock
Whisper White cardstock

Painted Harvest stamp set

Rich Razzleberry ink
Black ink

Big Shot
Tag Framelit
Leaf Punch
Paper Snips
Template for tag corners (I actually created that from a scrap of cardstock
so the two corners matched up)
Basic Pearls
Myths & Magic Specialty Washi Tape (page 57 of Occasions Catalog)
Stampin' Dimensionals
Black/White Baker's Twine
3/4" Circle Punch
Paper Punch
Black/White Gift Bag

INSTRUCTIONS:
Start with a 5 1/4" x 8 1/2" black and white gift bag. Even a solid white or solid black bag would work well.

Cut a piece of Designer Series Paper to 2 1/2" x 5". Use the template by matching up the tops, and, with a pencil, lightly trace the cutting lines. Snip off at the pencil marks to form a tag shape.

On a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the two steps of the flower in Rich Razzleberry. Add the center stamped in black. Fussy cut this flower, leaving a white margin all around.

With the Leaf Punch, punch two sets of leaves from Lemon Lime Twist cardstock. Adhere these leaves to the back of the cut-out flower.

With the Framelit and the Big Shot, cut a two-ended tag from black cardstock. With a Stampin' Dimensional, add the flower to the black tag towards the top. Add a strip of the glittery Washi Tape to the bottom of the tag, snipping the ends flush with the edges. Add a large Basic Pearl to each of the protruding ends of the black tag.

With a Paper Punch, punch a hole in the top of the DSP tag about 3/8" from the top. From a scrap of black cardstock, use the paper punch, then, surrounding this hole equally, punch it out with a 3/4" Circle Punch. Add the black circle over the hole you punched in the DSP tag.

Adhere the finished black tag to the DSP tag.

Cut a piece of black/white Baker's Twine that measures about 24". Double it and thread it through the hole, looping it above the hole. Tie the tag to the handles of the gift bag.

  3. That tag is beautiful and looks lovely on the bag. I could see how the flower alone might get lost but it's very striking as is.

  6. I love a pretty gift tag with a gift bag. I don't know if you are like me but in our house we reuse gift bags over and over so the original gift tag has to be removed and replaced. These are so sweet.
